That is not like a hurricane, but an actual hurricane. Around the time of this entry, the eye of Hurricane Irma was approaching the EOC (Emergency Operations Center) where I was sitting at the Safety Desk monitoring wind velocities. About six hours earlier I made the call to halt all non-emergency County operations and I was looking over at police and fire as they were approaching the sustained wind speed for their shut down call. Emergency shelters were losing power and emergency crews had to be sent out in armored vehicles. It was a seriously exciting night all around and the County people came through pretty well. Some lessons learned, but our people made it through safe.
I spent a week at the EOC, so the entries may be late.
Stay Safe.
